3D scanning
We turn real objects into accurate digital models — from mechanical parts to organic shapes, from small components to vehicles and people. To learn more, see the Wikipedia article on 3D scanning.

3D scanning captures the geometry of an object and generates digital data for analysis, modelling, reverse engineering or dimensional control. The method and level of detail depend on the part, its surface, the equipment and the project requirements.
We work with mechanical parts, organic shapes, vehicles and other objects. Before starting, we assess the dimensions, the surface, the capture conditions and the purpose of the work to define the right approach.

What we cover in 3D scanning

3D scanning from physical to digital
Imagine being able to edit, reproduce and explore every nuance of a physical object in the digital world.
That is what 3D scanning delivers: a complete transformation from real to virtual, keeping authenticity and rich detail.

3D scanning work and applications

Which 3D scanning technology we use and why
There is no perfect scanner for every part. We choose the technique by the object, its size and the accuracy you need.
| Technique | Best for | Things to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Handheld laser scanner | Industrial parts, metal surfaces, holes and hard-to-reach areas | Very shiny or transparent surfaces may need spray |
| Structured light | Large surfaces with lots of detail and colour | Sensitive to strong ambient light |
| Photogrammetry | Very large objects, terrain, buildings and monuments | Less rigorous for exact measurements of small parts |

How to prepare your part
When 3D scanning makes sense
Scanning people
The human body is personal data. We only scan people with clear, informed consent, explain what the data is for and do not use it for any other purpose. Applications: orthopaedics and ergonomics, clothing, visual effects and art.
How we do 3D scanning
Object analysis
We assess size, material and finish to choose the right technique.
Capture
We scan the object and obtain a high-density point cloud.
Processing
We clean and align the data and generate the 3D mesh.
Delivery
We deliver in STL, PLY or OBJ, or move on to CAD modelling.

Frequently asked questions
What accuracy is possible?
It depends on the equipment, size and material of the part. The professional scanner we use (SCANOLOGY MT Gen2) has, according to the manufacturer, accuracy of up to 0.03 mm. We state the expected accuracy for your case in the proposal.
What part size can you scan?
From objects a few centimetres across to parts several metres long. For very large objects, buildings or terrain, we use photogrammetry.
How long does it take?
Capturing a part is usually quick; the total time depends on size, complexity and what you ask for afterwards (mesh cleaning, CAD, report). We state the deadline in the proposal.
Which formats do you deliver?
STL, OBJ and PLY for meshes; CAD formats, if you request reverse engineering. If you need another format, tell us.
What if the part is shiny, black or transparent?
We use an anti-glare spray that evaporates on its own and needs no cleaning. The scanner we use also scans many dark and reflective surfaces without spray.
Do you scan at our site?
Yes, when the part is large or cannot be transported. We agree the place and time with you.
Can I get the mesh to 3D print?
Yes. We prepare the file and, if you wish, we print the part.
